Team Recycle Rex Win Power Pitch Award In The 2020 Global Conrad Challenge Innovation Competition

Ojih Favour, Idris Elizabeth, Akalugwu Chibuzor & Eghahi Anthony from Team Recycle Rex, students of Government Science and Technical College, Garki Abuja have won the Power Pitch Award in the Global Conrad Challenge Innovation Competition and multiple undergraduate scholarships.

The Conrad Challenge is an annual innovation challenge designed for high school students between the ages of 13 – 18. The challenge is designed for participants to apply their knowledge of science and technology, engineering, and mathematics to solve real-world problems around them. The competition brings together about a thousand five hundred participants worldwide.

Winners Of Euromoney Africa Awards For Excellence 2020

Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) and Access Bank have emerged winners at the Euromoney Africa Awards for Excellence 2020.

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc was awarded the Euromoney Excellence in Leadership Africa Award, a premier award category set up to recognize banks around the world who are playing a pivotal role during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc was also named Nigeria’s Best Bank for a record 10th time.

Access Bank was awarded the Euromoney Africa’s Best Bank for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

David Roluga is a senior secondary (SS) 3 student of Mayflower School, Ikenne, Ogun State.

Saffiyah Abdulhammed of Powerfield Group of School, Lagos State and Ibukunoluwa Arowosafe, Advanced Breed Comprehensive College, Ogun State were announced as first and second runners-up respectively during a winners’ party and media event held on Zoom on August 1st, 2020.

The top 20 students who emerged winners of the competition were awarded 20,000 cash prizes.

Elizabeth Ayanacho and Iyeneobong Essien have been named on the Malala Fund 2020 Game Changers Series.

Established by the Malala Fund co-founded by student and Nobel laureate, Malala Yousafzai, the Game Changers series focuses on incredible female athletes while raising awareness about missing indigenous women, advocating for girls to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and speaking out for other para-athletes.

The 2020 Games Changers list comprises 30 female athletes selected from 24 countries and are described as “female athletes defying convention on and off the field around the world.”
