Olumide Akinyemi Emerges Vassa’s Best Graduating Student [2016/17]

Olumide Akinyemi has emerged the best graduating student from Vassa University in Finland obtaining a Master of Science degree (M.Sc) in Economics and Business Administration (Strategic Business Development) – First class with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.92 / 5.0 and a Thesis of 5.0 / 5.0.

Olumide Akinyemi also received the highly competitive Aktia Foundation scholarship for his excellent academic performance.

Winners of the 2017 Little Writers Awards

The 2017 Little Writers Awards organised by ALFA Reading Society for Junior and Senior Secondary Schools in Lagos, promotes reading culture among the youth and the attainment of sustainable educational development across Africa.

The star prize for the senior secondary school of 100,000 Naira, plus a carton of Cheri Noodle, Blue Boat powder milk went to Miss Okonkwo Chidinma from Okesuna Senior High School, Lagos Island, while the second and third positions went to Miss Alfred Ini-Obong of Ajeromi Ifelodun Senior High School and Miss Anani Peace Faustina of Magbon-Alade Senior Grammar School respectively.

In the junior category, Ibiyemi Wuraola Hafsat of Magbon-Alade Junior Grammar School came first, while Bejide Tunmise of Magbon-Alade Junior Grammar School and Eze Mary-Ann of Ajeromi Ifelodun High School came second and third respectively.

In the teacher category, Ajani Sunday Oluyemi of Girls’ Junior Academy, Lagos Island, came first, while Onaneye Salewa of Lafiaji Senior High School, Lagos Island, and Mr. Martins Odiagbe of Magbon-Alade Senior Grammar School came second and third in that order.

Apart from cash rewards, all winners went home with cartons of Cheri Noodle, Blue Boat powder milk, from Olam International, and a school bag from ACCION Microfinance Bank. A total of 14 schools attended the award ceremony.

Adebimpe Daniells tops the 2017 Graduating set of Rutgers University-Newark USA with a First Class in Information System further emerging as the overall best student in the 2017 graduating set at the New Jersey University.

Also chosen as the valedictorian, Adebimpe Daniells gave a speech on behalf of her set during the convocation.

Lumen Christi Wins Africa Brands Review Awards 2017

Lumen Christi International High School, Uromi and the Principal Rev. Fr. Dr. Theophilus Itaman win two (2) Prestigious Awards for Academic Excellence from Africa Brands Review (ABR) 2017.

The “2017 Outstanding School of the Year Award” based on her 2016 excellent performance in public exams, infrastructural facilities, among other criteria, has qualified Lumen Christi to have won ABR Award for the second time.

The Principal, Lumen Christi International High School, Rev. Fr. Dr. Theophilus Itaman was also honoured with a meritorious award tagged: “The Distinguished Principal of the Year Award” for his outstanding qualities and contributions in diverse ways.

African Child Prize Award 2017

Dr. Edward Nkwegu has been presented the prestigious African Child Prize Award 2017 for Leadership in Development of the African Child for meritorious activities in children and women empowerment.

According to Owosakponome Donaldson, representative of the African Child Foundation:

“Edward Nkwegu is well deserving of this award especially through the activities of his non-profit organisation, Regina Pacis Foundation, that helps the poor.”

The awards commemorate the 2017 International Day of the African Child (June 16), organised by the African Child Foundation, in Lagos.

The International Day of the African Child was first established by the Organisation of the African Unity (OAU) in 1991 and aims at raising awareness for the situation of children in African, as well as on the need for continuing improvement in education. It also encouraged people’s spirit of abundance to share something special with a child in Africa.

Remita Wins DigitalPay Expo Awards 2017

Remita has been honoured as the Most Innovative Mobile Payment Solution of the Year at the DigitalPay Expo Awards 2017 in recognition of its contributions to the improvement of the payments processing experiences of individuals and businesses in Nigeria, through the innovation introduced by its Remita Mobile App.

According to the organisers of the awards, the recognition was bestowed on Remita because it provides “the most user-friendly payment application interface and accuracy in transactions settlements”.

The DigitalPay Expo Awards, formerly known as CardExpo Awards, is an annual three-day conference organised by Intermarc Consulting in partnership to showcase the most exciting developments within Africa’s payment industry.
