Africa Prudential Registrars Emerge Best Registrar In West Africa [2017]
Africa Prudential Registrars Plc has emerged the Best Registrar Firm in West Africa, by the Africa-Canada Trade Alliance, at the 7th Edition of the West Africa Innovation and Excellence Awards ceremony in Abuja.
According to the organisers, the innovation award celebrates outstanding innovations, brands and personalities in the public and private sectors across West Africa, which includes Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Republic of Benin, Coté d’Ivoire, and Gambia. Others are Mali, Senegal, Togo, Guinea Bissau, and Cameroun.
Based on internationally acceptable methodology, the panel of judges, rated and determined the winners. Africa Prudential Registrars scored above the minimum score line of 75 per cent to clinch the coveted award.
Winners of West Africa Innovation Awards [2017]
JSP Communications has been awarded the most creative PR agency in West Africa by the West Africa Innovation Awards.
The West Africa Innovation Awards ceremony, which took place in Abuja followed an in-depth examination of the top public relations agencies in the West African sub continent, based on specific yardsticks and an international benchmark.
According to Adeniyi Olusola, the Project Head of the West Africa Innovation Award, the initiative was based on the need to identify and uplift PR agencies and service providers in West Africa, who think strategically, execute diligently and add a touch of intellect to their service offering.
In his words:
“This award was borne out of the need we felt to recognize and highlight as models, agencies that have not only made an impact in their industry sectors but have also demonstrated a clear commitment to the spirit of innovation, creativity and holistic client satisfaction in West Africa.

Rebecca Dali Wins 2017 Sérgio Vieira de Mello Award
Dr. Rebecca Dali, Chief Executive Officer, Centre for Caring, Empowerment, and Peace Initiatives (CCEPI), has won the 2017 Sérgio Vieira de Mello award in recognition of her humanitarian services in North-East Nigeria. The award has a symbolic cash prize of about ₦6.6 million.
Reacting to the award, Dr. Rebecca Dali said that the award had come to assuage the sadness for the disappearance of her son in the 2011 Jos crises.

Nigeria has won a total of 11 awards in the 2017 edition of the Golden Movie Awards Africa (GMAA) held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra, Ghana.

Bamidele Adetayo and Suleiman Nadabo develop Entertale
Bamidele Adetayo and Suleiman Nadabo, have developed a free TV, movie streaming web app, Entertale to give TV audience in Africa and the world quality experiences.
According to Mr. Bamidele Adetayo:
“It allows users to watch multiple live TV stations for free. The story of Entertale begins due to lack for African valued TV contents to enable people connect with what are happenings and watch movies and TV shows with friends they are already connected with. The App which is set for launch later in the month does not require monthly subscription, and the live channels would comprise international and African TV stations.”
Also speaking, the co-founder, Mr. Suleiman Nadabo said that in the app is a feature called “Co-Play’’, which give users the options to watch movies they rented with friends irrespective of location.
In his statements:
“Using the App is like watching television in an alternate reality where you do not recognise any of the shows, while evolving a new space that has been lacking in the African entertainment industry. “Cord cutting” might be getting another kin but this time it is driven with a social experience – a free service that mimic the cable box with Internet channels instead of traditional ones and cinematic experience. The app is still in its web versions where much of the content comes from YouTube; in its movie model cases, Entertale also makes direct content deals with big independent studios to access their latest library.”

Winners have emerged in the 2017 BusinessDay States Competitiveness and Good Governance Awards held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
- Fastest Growing State economy award – Kano State
Based on noticeable increase in its IGR, expanding business opportunities and rising confidence among investors across the state.
- Best State in Tourism Award – Osun State
Based on its consistent successes in hosting the annual Osun Osogbo festival.
- The most improved in healthcare development – Ebonyi State
Governor David Umahi’s administration was commended for channeling the resources of the state to build the first virology centre for the entire south eastern region.
- Transparency in Governance award – Jigawa State
The Award Committee based its decision on full disclosure of the contracts awarded, their costs, contractors and the level of performance of each project.
- The most improved state in rural and urban development – Enugu and Edo states
- Best state promoting made in Nigeria goods and SME development award – Abia State
This campaign earned entrepreneurs in Abia state about ₦1 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu was highly commended for promoting made in Nigeria goods.
- The most improved state in ease of doing business – Kaduna State
Since he assumed office, Mallam El Rufai introduced a number of measures that have seen all the government agencies improved remarkably in addressing investors’ concerns and this has led to a number of new investments being injected into the state.
- Agricultural development award – Benue State
- Housing development award – Ogun State
- The most improved states in education development for the southern and northern regions respectively – Imo and Sokoto states
Apart from being the state with the highest enrolments into tertiary institutions in the country, Imo State has maintained the top five positions by WAEC ranking among the states of the federation. On its part, Sokoto State has embarked on massive reforms of the education sector, starting with the highest budgetary allocation to that sector.
