Team LASU Wins 1st Africa University Badminton Championship In Mauritius

Team LASU (Lagos State University) has won the 1st Africa University Badminton Championship in Mauritius.

LASU finished with a total of nine (9) medals comprising of five (5) gold medals and four (4) silver medals to be on the top of medals table.

The African Badminton Championship tournament was organized by the Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) to crown the best badminton players in Africa.

Winners Of 2019 Finnovex West Africa Awards

Winners have emerged at the 2019 Finnovex West Africa Awards held on October 22, 2019 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lagos.

The event, co-located with Finnovex West Africa and organised under the patronage of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), provided a platform for industry shaping discussions with experts, thought leaders and innovators across the financial services community worldwide. The 2-day conference focused on global trends, disruptions and how market players can determine opportunities and respond to the threats. Team Requid Wins Inaugural Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Hackathon

Team Requid has emerged the overall winner of the maiden edition of X-Kathon, a Hackathon designed by the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) to encourage technology enthusiasts to develop innovative financial technology (fintech) solution to drive up millennials participation in the capital market.

Team Requid receives the grand prize of 5 million.

The winner made the top 10 teams, including: Echo Trade; Koin-Jar; King; Finfit; Fantasy Stock Exchange; Stritbid; Trove; Investors Masterclass and Nigeria Learn.

The second position was occupied by Team Trove, which received 3 million and Team Investors Masterclass, which got 2 million.

Chidera Vanessa Akamelu has won The Young CEO 2019 Entrepreneur Reality TV Show at the grand finale held at Pelican International Hotel, Chevy View Estate, Chevron Drive, Lekki, Lagos.

Conceived as a platform to promote and support young entrepreneurs, who are doing great in their business ventures, the fiercely contested show began on September 14 [2019] with a grand opening, with 25 rising entrepreneurs drawn from diverse fields nationwide. However, as the show progressed, only five contestants made it to the grand finale.

Safiyya Ahmad Wins 2019 BBC Hausa Short Story Writing Competition

Safiyya Ahmad has won the 2019 BBC Hausa Short Story Writing Competition, with a story titled: “Maraici” (Ophanhood) after beating 25 other contestants.

Hajiya Bilkisu Yusuf, who is among the three judges, announced the winner at the Awards Night of the BBC Hausa Short Story Writing Competition held in Abuja on the 25th of October 2019.
