University of Agriculture Makurdi (UAM Tillers) emerge champions of the maiden Higher Institutions Football League (HiFL) organised in partnership with the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA).
The Higher Institutions Football League (HiFL) is overseen by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Committee of Vice-Chancellors (CVC).
Winners have emerged in the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA Literary Prizes 2018 at the end of the four-day 37th International Convention of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) in Ikeja, Lagos.
This year’s convention held under the theme: “Literature, Megacities and Mega-narratives”, with its keynote delivered by Professor Karen King-Aribisala of the University of Lagos.
The ANA Literary Prize is committed towards building a humane society and knowledge economy driven by highly motivated creative writers.
Adepeju Jaiyeoba, has been awarded the 2018 Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Award for her social enterprise that supplies birthing kits to health centres.
As the HRH Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize winner, Adepeju Jaiyeoba receives a €50,000 cash award and the remaining seven winners will each receive a €8,500 cash award.

Presentation National High School, Benin City, Edo State has emerged winner of the ₦7 million star prize in the 7th edition of the Seplat Pearl Quiz Competition held in Asaba, Delta State.
The three-year-old competition for all secondary schools in both Delta and Edo States commenced in the first week of October 2018 with each of the three student representatives of the victorious school (Presentation National High School) received ₦100,000 and a laptop each.
Sponsors of the 7th edition of the Seplat Pearl Quiz Competition also rewarded the second place winner, Lawrence Prentice Academy, Delta State with ₦3 million prize money for a project in the school just as the three representatives received the sum of ₦75,000.00 each while the third place went to University Preparatory Secondary School (UPSS.), Benin that won ₦1 million and ₦50,000 each for the representatives of the school.
Taiwo Jolade has emerged winner in an annual essay competition jointly organized by the Nigerian Press Log and University of Sussex, Brighton, United Kingdom in partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The essay competition had as its theme the dangers of publishing fake news on any media platform ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Forbes Africa has rated Nigeria as the 2018 best economy in Africa and Benedict Peters, awarded Africa’s Oil and Gas Leader of the Year at the Forbes Best of Africa Gala, which held at Forbes Headquarters, New York City.
According to Forbes, Nigeria came top with $172 billion, which was followed by South Africa with $166.735 billion. Also on the list was Egypt as third with $78 billion, Algeria with $66 billion, Libya with $65 billion, Botswana with $22.675 billion, Ghana with $20.458 billion, Morocco with $18 billion, Ivory Coast with $11 billion and Madagascar with $6.766 billion.
