Oparaoji Uche & Marylove Edwards Win Inaugural Abuja Tennis Cup

Oparaoji Uche and Marylove Edwards have emerged winners of the maiden edition of Abuja Tennis Cup in the male and female categories respectively.

Top seed Marylove Edwards emerged champion in the female category after defeating her opponent Mohammed Jummai in two straight sets 6-1, 6-2.

In the men’s event that took place at the Tennis Center of the Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, Oparaoji Uche dismantled Atseye Henry 6-2, 6-2, in a match that lasted for over an hour, to be crowned champion.

Eight male and eight female top Nigerian tennis players took part in the 4-day event that was organized by the Tennis Management Company Limited.

Ganiyu Oboh Emerges Nigeria’s Best Researcher According To 2021 Alper-Doger Scientific Index

Ganiyu Oboh, a professor of applied biochemistry at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has emerged Nigeria’s best researcher according to the 2021 Alper-Doger Scientific Index.

From being ranked the number one in food science in Nigeria and number six on the World’s list of Top 2 per cent scientists’ in the ranking released by Stanford University, United States of America, Mr. Oboh also emerged Africa’s best biochemist.

He is currently the head of Functional Food and Nutraceutical Laboratory Unit in the Department of Biochemistry and has recommended a cure to diabetes.

Professor Peter James Kpolovie has emerged winner of the International Achievements Research Center (IARC) Scientist of the Year 2021 Award (Natural Sciences / Computer and Information Sciences category).

Peter James Kpolovie is a Professor at the Department of Psychology, and former Director of Academic Planning, Research, and Control at the University of Port Harcourt.

Professor Peter James Kpolovie was among the thirteen (13) winners of the global competition organised by the International Achievements Research Centre (IARC) located in Montreal, Canada.

IARC designed the event to foster the professional growth of talented scientists, engineers, and researchers from various regions of the world through showcasing the latest results of their work, their notable discoveries and breakthroughs that advance the frontiers of science and technology.
