Bayelsa Queens FC have emerged champions of the 2020/2021 Federation Cup, also known as Aiteo Cup on the 9th of August 2021.

Bayelsa Queens FC won the Aiteo Cup by defeating the Lagos based clubside, Robo FC 4-2 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

Bayelsa United Win 2021 Men Aiteo Cup Title

Bayelsa United have emerged champions of the 2021 Federation Cup, also known as Aiteo Cup on the 9th of August 2021.

Nigeria National League (NNL) club Bayelsa United won the Aiteo Cup for the first time edging out NPFL side Nasarawa United 4-3 on penalties at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

Temilolu Fosudo Wins 4th Beeta Playwright Competition

Temilolu Fosudo has emerged winner of the 4th Beeta Playwright Competition organised by Beeta Universal Arts Foundation at the grand finale held at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos on 4th of August 2021.

Temilolu Fosudo received 10 million Naira as prize money from the sponsors for his play titled: “Black Dust”.

Kalayingi John-Africa’s Orchid, made her the first runner-up while the second runner-up was Ibukun Fasunhan who entered with the play, Beertanglement and like Fosudo, had reached the final stage of the competition in 2020.

Others in the shortlist include: Adesewa Akinyemi’s Your Nemesis, Chinazom Otubelu’s The Old Man Must Obey, Yemi Akande’s Flowers Will Smile Again, Gladys A. Nwaokoma’s Ya Gazie, Nyakno James’ Gaddo, Ifeoma Igwe’s Aye Wale and Olaide Mohammed’s The Indigent on the Throne.

The Whitley Awards are presented annually to individuals from the Global South by UK-based charity, the Whitley Fund for Nature.

Dr. Abiodun Adereni Wins 2021 Waislitz Global Citizen COVID-19 Response Award

Dr. Abiodun Adereni, the founder and CEO of HelpMum has emerged winner of the 2021 Waislitz Global Citizen COVID-19 Response Award.

As a result of his work during the pandemic, Dr. Adereni was awarded the COVID-19 Response Award, which honors a person who implemented a specific program to address the impacts of COVID-19 in their community. With the $50,000 cash prize, he plans to expand HelpMum’s services to support more pregnant women in rural areas.

Blessing Oborududu Emerges First Nigerian Wrestler To Win A Medal At The Olympics

Blessing Oborududu has emerged the first Nigerian wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics after winning a silver medal in the women’s 68 kg freestyle wrestling event at the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.

Blessing Oborududu on 3rd of August 2021 achieved the feat after losing to reigning world champion Tamyra Mensah-Stock of the United States 4-1 on points.
