Farmcrowdy Group Wins UNIDO International Award 2019 On Disruptive Innovation In Agribusiness Technology

The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) has awarded Farmcrowdy Group with the award for Disruptive Innovation in Agribusiness Technology at the UNIDO International Award 2019 of Innovative Ideas and Technologies in Agribusiness.

The award, which is in its third series, was given on the 15th of May, 2019 in Rome, Italy.

Dupe Ademola-Popoola Develops Blindness Detection Kits – TELVIS & Vision Save

Dr. Dupe Ademola-Popoola, an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), has developed blindness detection kits – Teacher Led Vision Screener (TELVIS) and Vision Save.

Dr. Dupe Ademola-Popoola been granted a patent on the device, Teacher Led Vision Screener (TELVIS).

According to the University of Ilorin Bulletin issued on the 13th of May, 2019, TELVIS helps detect sight challenges in children and young people

It further explained that the device could be used by non-professionals, particularly teachers, to detect sight inadequacies among pupils.

Ridwan Ola-Gbadamosi from the Faculty of Engineering and Karen Nneka Enumah from the Department of Mathematics, both finished with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.88.

Nuhu Ibrahim achieved the feat with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.94 out of 5.00 – the highest ever recorded in the history of ABU since its establishment in 1962.

Ekele Franklin Emerges Overall Best Candidate In The 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

Ekele Franklin has emerged the overall best candidate in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), conducted between April 11 and April 15, 2019

15-year-old Ekele Franklin made University of Lagos (UNILAG) his first choice and scored 347.

Emmanuel Chidebube, a 16-year-old boy from Abia came second with a score of 346, while Isaac Olamide, a 17-year-old from Osun came third with 345.

In all 2,906 candidates scored over 300 as against 4,683 in 2018.
