Team AI Squad Wins FIRST Lego League (FLL) Nigeria National Championship [2019]

Team AI Squad from Hillside School, Abuja has emerged winner of the FIRST Lego League (FLL) Nigeria National Championship [2019] hosted by Baze University, Abuja.

The competition, which hosted 600 pupils of ages nine to 16, had team Federal Government College (FGC), Odogbolu, Ogun State, emerge second place winner, while Team Glistobots, from Glisten International Academy, Abuja, won the third place.

The top three teams will represent Nigeria at international tournaments including the World robotic festival at Houston, Texas and International Open Championships in Turkey, Lebanon, Australia and Uruguay.

Afe Babalola Wins 2018 Obafemi Awolowo Leadership Prize

Afe Babalola (SAN) has emerged the winner of the 2018 Obafemi Awolowo Leadership Prize announced at a ceremony held in Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

Afe Babalola was announced as the winner of the award by Chief Emeka Anyaoku, who is also the Chairman of the Selection Committee of the Obafemi Awolowo Leadership Award.

The Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) and winner of the Zik Prize in Leadership for 2013 also become the third African to win the distinguished Obafemi Awolowo Leadership Prize (2018) after former South African President, Thambo Mbeki and Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, won the Prize in 2014 and 2012 respectively.

Gideon Goyet & Deborah Pam Emerge Nigerian Winners Of The 2019 Access Bank Lagos Marathon

Gideon Goyet and Deborah Pam have emerged Nigerian winners of the 2019 Access Bank Lagos Marathon in the male and female categories respectively.

Gideon Goyet ran the race in two hours and 30 minutes with Deborah Pam for the second year running finished as the fastest Nigerian woman at the Lagos Marathon as well as finishing among the top 10 women overall.

Gideon Goyet receives ₦3 million while the second and third receive ₦2 million and ₦1 million respectively.

Nigeria Emerge Overall Winner Of 2019 Lagos World Para Powerlifting Invitational Championships

Nigeria has emerged the overall winner of the 2019 Lagos World Para Powerlifting Invitational Championships held at Oriental Hotel in Lagos.

Nigeria won all the 20 gold medals on offer as well as winning 15 silver and 7 bronze medals, making it a total of 42 medals in all at the competition.

Abdul-Qudus Ibrahim Wins 2018 Beeta Playwright Competition

Abdul-Qudus Ibrahim has emerged the overall winner of the 2018 Beeta Playwright Competition with his winning play titled: “Jagagba”.

Out of 348 entries and 10 finalists, Abdul-Qudus Ibrahim was selected and receives a reward of ₦1 million cash prize.

The grand finale of the second edition of Beeta Playwright Competition held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
