Rainbow College Wins 2018 Felabration Secondary Schools Debates

Rainbow College, located in Surulere, Lagos, has won the 2018 edition of the Felabration Secondary Schools Debates.

Vivian Fowler Memorial College in Ikeja, Lagos came in second place and the third place winner was the Ipakodo Senior Grammar School in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The Felabration Secondary Schools Debates gives secondary school children a platform to debate national issues. The event, according to the organisers, is a way of “sensitising the youths to stand up to the call of patriotism.” This year, all of the participating schools were located in Lagos.

Georgia Oboh Becomes Full Member Of Ladies European Tour (LET)

Georgia Oboh becomes a full member of the Ladies European Tour (LET) and thereby is the first and youngest Nigerian to accomplish the historic feat.

The 17-year-old carded 72 on the fourth day of the LET Qualifying School at the Lalla Aicha Tour School at Amelkis Golf Club in Casablanca, Morocco to make the top 60 from the field of 115 competing at the Q –School.

The qualification will accord her with playing privileges for the 2019 season.

The EmergeOndo Innovation in Governance Hackathon has announced Team Gadges, Team Psyche, Team FarmCred and Team Dunalinks as the winners in its four thematic areas, namely; renewable energy, education, agricultural accessibility, and business linkages respectively.

The EmergeOndo Innovation in Governance Hackathon took place over a three-day period from December 6th-8th, 2018 within the three innovation hubs located in Akure, Ondo State — Akure Tech Hub, Curators Hub and Premier Hub Innovation Center.

Team Nigeria Wins 2018 Africa Schools Badminton Championship

Team Nigeria has emerged champion of the 2018 Africa Schools Badminton Championship, in Tema, Ghana.

The nine players that represented Nigeria at the event are Rufai Saddam Sidi, Daniel Christopher Egbonyi, Khalil Safana Shamsuddeen, Umar Ahmad Balarabe and Bankole Babatunde Timileyin in the male category, while Obanishola Sofiat Arinola, Obasanmi Christianah Olajumoke, Taofik Ganiyat Romoke and Mosun Shogbade represented the country in the female category.

Artistry Media Wins $5,000 Grant From Lagos Film Academy

Artistry Media, which consists of Baridakara Nwilene, Alfa Faruk Umar and Joshua Tostso, has won a $5,000 film project grant from the Lagos Film Academy.

The three young and aspiring filmmakers were selected by the Lagos Film Academy for the grant in the third Film for Life competition.

The three members of Artistry Media will have the opportunity to make a short film directed at impacting social change with focus on the upcoming 2019 general elections in Nigeria.

Winners Of 2018 DStv Eutelsat Star Awards

Winners have emerged from the 2018 edition of the DStv Eutelsat Star awards.

They are Tirzah Ikiri of Zamani College, Kaduna, winner in the Essay category of the award while Prosper Okarike of Graceland International College, Port-Harcourt came first in the Poster category, making him a two-time winner of the competition at the national level.
