The Purpose Of Nigeria! By Olawale Lekan Christopher

When the fetters of colonisation began to break in the late 1950s and 1960s in Africa, there was a need for a big brother nation to emerge among the newly independent African countries that would lead the way in the political stability and economic prosperity of the newly liberated continent. Due to its size in population and resources, Nigeria seemed to have been a perfect fit for the role. And as soon as it gained independence in 1960,  Nigeria began to lead, offering political, military and financial supports to African countries in need.

Asubiojo Henry Olaoluwa, has emerged the best public secondary school teacher in Nigeria in the 2020 President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Award.

Asubiojo Henry Olaoluwa is a teacher from Amoye Grammar School, Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Aliyu Alhasan from IPDI, Minna, and St. Joseph CRS school, Iboko Offot, Uyo, emerged first and second runners-up, respectively, in the 2020 public school teachers award.

Similarly, Istifanus Caroline, a teacher from ECWA. L. Crawford, Kaltungo, Gombe state, emerged the best private junior school teacher.

Mrs. Dorothy Udeme Ufot has won the African Arbitrator (AFAA) of the Year Award at a virtual event hosted on the sidelines of the yearly East African International Arbitration Conference, which took place in Nairobi, Kenya.

Mrs. Dorothy Udeme Ufot, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and chartered arbitrator, defeated her counterparts Professor Mohammed Abdel Wahab from Egypt and Dr. Jamsheed Peeroo from Mauritius.

The Africa Arbitration Awards winners were announced and celebrated in a virtual ceremony that was broadcast live on Zoom, YouTube and on the conference portal.
