Famidah Yussuf Emerges Overall Winner Of Union Bank Of Nigeria The Next Robotics Legend 2.0

14-year-old Famidah Yussuf has emerged as the overall winner of the Union Bank Of Nigeria The Next Robotics Legend 2.0 for designing a robotic solution to tackle the shortage of medical personnel and reduce direct contact between medical personnel and patients, especially in cases of transmissible diseases.

Two runners-up, Munachiso Okeoma and Oluwatimilehin Oke, designed a multifunctional smart health robot for conducting medical scans as well as performing surgical operations; and an agricultural robotic solution for weed identification and removal, monitoring soil conditions, and controlling the spread of diseases, respectively.

Rilwan Akanbi And Fatimo Bello Win 2021 ITTF Western Region Championship

Rilwan Akanbi and Fatimo Bello have emerged winners of the men’s singles and women’s singles events at the 2021 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Western Region Championship in the best of seven games.

Rilwan Akanbi emerged the new regional champion in the Men’s Singles event, after he defeated his counterpart, Azeez Solanke, 4-3 (7-11, 11-3, 6-11, 11-8, 10-12, 11-4, 11-8), while Fatimo Bello also won 4-0 (11-9, 11-7, 11-7, 11-9) against her opponent, Aminat Fashola.

Cheluchi Onyemelukwe-Onuobia Wins NLNG 2021 Nigeria Prize For Literature

Cheluchi Onyemelukwe-Onuobia with her novel ‘The Son of the House’ has won the 2021 Nigeria Prize for Literature sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited.

The Chair of the Advisory Board for the prize, Professor Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo made the disclosure of Cheluchi Onyemelukwe-Onuobia as the winner of the $100,000 prize at a ceremony on October 30, 2021 at Expo Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Her work beat Abi Dare’s ‘The Girl with the Louding Voice’ and Obinna Udenwe’s ‘Colours of Hatred’.

The one million Naira award for the NLNG’s Prize for Literary Criticism was won by Uchechukwu Uwazurike. There was no winner for the $100,000 prize for Science.

Winners Of 2021 West Africa Media Excellence Conference And Awards (WAMECA)

Winners have emerged at the 2021 West Africa Media Excellence Conference and Awards (WAMECA), which held in Accra, Ghana on October 22, 2021.

The fifth edition of the award themed, “Misinformation, Digital Media Regulation, and Journalism in Africa” recognises exceptional reporters in the diverse field of journalism and celebrates and promotes media excellence in West Africa.

The West Africa Media Excellence Conference and Awards (WAMECA) is an initiative by the Media Foundation for West Africa to promote media excellence in the sub-region. WAMECA is a two-part event: a Conference and an Awards ceremony for journalists.
