- 2021: Nigeria Exports to Benin was US$79.71 Million during 2021 while Benin Exports to Nigeria was US$8.67 Million during 2021, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade.

- November 2021: Nigeria, Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Angola and Cameroon adopt the Yaoundé Code of Conduct (YCC) with a view to sustaining the low level of pirate attacks on vessels in the Gulf of Guinea (GoG). The YCC describes the signatory states’ intent to ‘co-operate to the fullest possible extent in the repression of transnational organized crime’.
